The aim of the COST Action CA15124 - A new Network of European BioImage Analysts to advance life science imaging (NEUBIAS) is to maximise the outputs of image-based research in life sciences by empowering the international network of bioimage analysis (IA) experts - BIAlysts.
The Action will organize meetings to foster interactions of all stakeholders including life scientists, bialysts, microscopists, software developers and private sector. The aim of our project is to create IA methods of microscopic/IA tasks which we have met during the study of our main research topic – somatic embryogenesis of conifers. We will estimate the volume of non-embryogenic mass in somatic embryogenic culture of Douglas fir by the combination of Cavalieri´s principle and the point-counting method. We will use laser scanning confocal microscope to quantify viability of the cells of Norway spruce early somatic embryos. Using measurements of optical parameters and colour characteristics, we will quantify histochemical proof of phenolic compounds on the Norway spruce somatic embryo sections. Together with bialysts we will try to quantify immunohistochemical reaction on the Norway spruce somatic embryo sections and the protein turnover during starvation-dependent autophagy process using photoconvertible proteins in tobacco BY-2 cells. We provide our datasets to the interactive database for bioimage analysis tools and workflows that will be created by the Action.
